CL is not an error code — it is a status indicator showing that the Child Lock (Control Lock) feature has been activated. When Child Lock is on, all control panel buttons are disabled to prevent accidental cycle starts or changes. It is commonly activated accidentally by pressing and holding the control lock button while loading dishes, or by a child pressing multiple buttons simultaneously. The dishwasher is functioning normally and does not require service.

To deactivate Child Lock on most Frigidaire dishwashers, press and hold the Control Lock button (sometimes shared with another function button) for 3–5 seconds until the CL indicator disappears and the panel becomes responsive. The exact button varies by model — consult the owner's manual if you cannot locate it. On some models, pressing and holding the Heated Dry or Options button for 3 seconds toggles the lock.
