The i50 code indicates the main wash pump motor has failed or is drawing abnormal current. The wash pump circulates hot water at pressure through the spray arms during the wash and rinse cycles. When it fails, the dishwasher may appear to run (filling, heating, draining) but dishes come out dirty because no water pressure is hitting the spray arms. Signs of a failing pump include unusual humming or grinding noises at the start of a cycle, or complete silence during the wash phase.

First check for foreign objects (glass shards, a stray piece of plastic, a large food particle) blocking the pump impeller — access the sump at the bottom of the tub by removing the filter and lower spray arm. A blocked impeller is a common cause of i50. If the sump is clear, test the wash pump motor for continuity with a multimeter. A failed motor (open circuit) requires pump replacement. On most Frigidaire models the pump and motor are a combined assembly.
