AELG Dryer — LG Dryer AE Error Code
BLDC motor communication error between control board and inverter
The AE code is specific to LG dryers with a brushless DC (BLDC) inverter motor. It indicates a communication fault between the main control board and the inverter drive board that controls the motor. This can stem from a loose or damaged wiring harness between the two boards, a failed inverter board, a failed main control board, or in some cases a motor that has failed in a way that disrupts the feedback signal. AE errors are more common after power surges or if the dryer has been moved and a connector came loose.
Unplug the dryer and allow 5 minutes for capacitors to discharge. Open the back panel and inspect all wiring harness connectors between the main board and the inverter board — reseat each one firmly. Reconnect power and test; many AE errors resolve after a reconnection. If the error persists, the inverter board (typically the smaller board near the motor) is the more common failure point and is less expensive than the main control board. Replacement of either board should be done by a technician if you are not comfortable with electronics.
